James Schuetz, EMS Captain & Instructor
For 22 years, James has served on the front lines of emergency medicine and for most of that time, he has been teaching it. Currently a Captain at Hamilton Hospital District EMS, he is known for his ability to take complex concepts and break them down into real-world, common-sense lessons that students can immediately apply.
James brings energy, humor, and a supportive coaching style to every class. He doesn’t just teach — he mentors, cheers, and guides students through both the coursework and the emotional journey of becoming an EMT. His purpose is simple and powerful: to build his replacements on the truck. James wants every graduate to leave the academy not just test-ready, but job-ready.
Jennifer Schuetz, Paramedic
With more than 26 years in Emergency Medical Services, Jennifer has served in almost every role imaginable: EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, Field Training Officer, Command Staff, and EMS Instructor. Her journey into EMS was deeply personal — after her son was born with congenital heart disease (CHD), she witnessed firsthand the lifesaving impact of a highly skilled emergency team. That experience became her calling.
Today, Jennifer channels that same passion into teaching. She believes that every student deserves the knowledge, confidence, and support needed to step into the field with readiness and heart. Her mission is to help build the next generation of EMS professionals who will carry forward the same life-saving care her family once received.
